Eric Michael Soyster
November 18, 1973 - January 10, 2006

Eric came to Lost and Found at age 16 and went on to make a long-lasting relationship with the community of Lost and Found Inc. and the faith community here where he maintained deep ties, describing this as his “adopted” family. Eric came to work at Lost and Found, first in the capacity of an online counselor, working with boys in the very treatment center he had spent time in himself. Later Eric worked in our Operations Department, providing the essential support services so necessary to the personnel in the agency. Eric was a man of the faith and expressed this relationship with our Lord by giving of himself. He once described his “love language” as being Quality Time, and this was something he was always ready to share with any who were willing to receive.

During Eric’s 32 years he loved many and was loved by many. He was a man who pursued his many passions and interests. His interest in the ocean, diving and medicine led him to a stint in the US Navy where he served his country as a Medical Corpsman, and later put his training to work as an EMT. Eric was a certified scuba diver and had trained to become a SCUBA instructor. A man of many talents and interests, Eric was an avid reader and was life-long student of life.

Eric was a man of nature, loving the outdoors, the serenity of the wilderness, and natural beauty. With this in mind the Eric M. Soyster Memorial Fund is dedicated to providing camping and wilderness experiences for our children in treatment. Eric found joy and peace in his excursions. As a counselor he knew that many of our young men in treatment have never been out of an urban or suburban environment. This fund will ensure that experiences with our natural environment will be available to all of the young people we serve in residential, foster-home and group-home settings.
