PRISON OUTREACH
"Brotherly love must continue. The love of strangers must not be neglected, for through this some have entertained angels unawares. Ye must be remembering those in prison as though you were in prison with them, and those who suffer adversity as ye also are in the body" Hebrews 13:1-3

KC's testimony:
My letter writing ministry began with a note written to one of the most infamous serial killers, David Berkowitz, also known as The Son of Sam. I’m not even sure how I found David on the internet, but one day I came across a video on-line called "Forgiven For Life." I was amazed at the transformation that occurred in this once Satan-filled man because he had called upon the wonderful forgiveness offered by our Lord. For the past fifteen years he has ministered to the inmates that are his community. I saw, too, that he was truly forgiven and if HE could be forgiven then my past transgressions could be and have been wiped from my slate through the blood of Christ. I had to write David to tell him how much his testimony meant to me. He replied, encouraging me to write other prisoners and so I did.
What started out a pen-pal endeavor has turned into the ministry that I know is God’s intention for my life. I have been amazed and humbled at how even the smallest act of kindness can brighten the days of these often forgotten and abandoned members of our society. With over two million Americans behind bars, this is a huge mission field. One of the things that has surprised me, through my communiqués with inmates, is that the most basic of needs are not met in prisons; the little things that a prisoner asks for continues to surprise me. When I put it out there, that they could tell me if they needed anything, I sort of held my breath waiting for requests of money or things I couldn’t afford to get them. What they asked for was paper and envelopes, snacks, fresh fruit, yarn to crochet, drawing paper and books and they apologized up and down for asking at all. I started out simply wanting to be a pen-pal, but now what I have stepped into is a sort of Make-A-Wish for inmates. I have been alone in my writings, but now through the help of Lost and Found, I pray that my Ministry of Magnitude will have the opportunity to spread and that many more will join me in communicating with inmates, sharing friendship, scripture and encouragement, and assisting in meeting their needs as human beings. There is so much we can do. Making sure they have Bibles, assisting them in getting copies of their trial transcripts if they want to appeal, connecting them with the right institutions so they can seek a college education while incarcerated, or simply seeing to it that they have paper and pencil ….so much.
We are a society of abundance. With God’s help he will direct us to where we should go next with this Ministry. In the meantime, let’s be the one who shines a bright ray of God’s love to the bedraggled and emotionally battered men and women who live their lives without physical freedom, but who can certainly claim the freedom found in Jesus Christ. Please help me and Lost and Found Inc. in this work of the Gospel.
Thank You:
