It
is difficult time for today’s
youth. Being bombarded with many messages and influenced
by every media source, television programming, and social stimulation
can lead to disruptive behaviors and fractured thinking.
Youth are constantly assailed with negative influences impacting
the ability of some to make positive life choices. Relationships
suffer, grades decline, and a family crisis occurs.
These are
stressful situations that can lead to more serious health problems
for youth at risk. Teens struggling with major stress and low
self-esteem issues can also develop more serious problems such
as eating disorders, self-harming behaviors, depression, substance
abuse and even suicide*.

situation call 303 420 8080 to set up a consult for Intensive Outpatient

The inability to “fit” into
positive social, family or academic arenas can create isolation and/or
feelings of depression. Studies and statistics show that approximately 1
in 8 adolescents may be suffering from depression and only
about 30% of these children suffering emotional/mental turmoil are
receiving any treatment**.
For the parent, it is a confusing time, a complicated
time when your child is reaching for independence but needs boundaries
and limitations to grow upright. Parents become aware and concerned
with the potential of their child to become entangled in the “system” as
they watch their young become disobedient, defiant, even hostile
toward authority figures stretching the boundaries of normal childhood
behaviors***.
In 2005, a national study from the Department of Health and Human
Services, Center for Disease Control**** reported that in one month:
29.8% of males youth carried a weapon
23.5 % of females youth reported episodic heavy
29.6 % of females youth reported to have rode with a driver
who had been drinking alcohol
39% teens had sexual intercourse
In Colorado alone, children who experience child abuse and neglect
are 59% more likely to be arrested as a juvenile. Only half of Denver
Public School students are graduating on time. On an average high
school dropouts earn about $10,000 less annually then youth who graduate*****.
For as bad as it sounds there is hope to regain
the ground taken over by the effects of a deteriorating social fabric,
the fracturing of our family systems, and the devastation to the
esteem of our youth. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) of Lost
and Found Inc. assists youth and families in overcoming behavioral
problems, bridging the chasms of emotional indifference, and re-establishing
relational development. The Intensive Outpatient Program offers each
youth and family an opportunity to engage in healthy recovery, restoration,
and reconciliation.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Program Description and Philosophy
Intensive Outpatient Program is a specialized therapeutic service designed
to offer a robust milieu of customized treatment options for the adolescent
dealing with behavioral, emotional, and mental health issues related to abuse,
addiction, or trauma.
Intensive treatment means to provide therapeutic intervention several times
throughout the week for as little as 6 hours to as much as 9 hours per week
of individual, group, family, and family group work. Without family involvement
the treatment process can be and is most often slow and disconnected. Building
strong and resilient families is a priority for Lost and Found Inc., family
involvement is a requirement of the program, including family sessions, parent
groups, and parent education to improve their abilities as effective, successful
parents to understand, motivate, support, and encourage the treatment process
and success of their youth.
Lost and Found Inc. recognizes that sometimes it is hard for a youth to
maintain a scholastic regime due to life disruptions. The Intensive Outpatient
Education Program (IOP-E) can help bridge the gap by offering an educational
component that will allow the youth to remain connected and on-track with
the school of origin. The IOP-E provides a small classroom setting, one-to-four
facilitation ratio for continued academic development. IOP- E services are
offered in combination with therapy for as little as 6 hours and up to 25
hours per week, depending on the client’s level of need.
These treatment interventions offered through the Family Counseling Center
have a holistic philosophy to address the physical, mental/emotional, scholastic,
and spiritual issues to promote health and healing, recovery and restoration.
The program components are selected to provide customized treatment planning
to meet the individual needs of each client at convenient afternoon and weekend
times which allows the youth to maintain their educational standing with
their local school and permits family involvement after work hours.
Treatment Modalities
Treatment modalities for the IOP and the IOP-E programs are continually
updated and evaluated for effectiveness and quality delivery.
The intensive outpatient program is 3 days a week for 2 to3 hours a day
for a total of 6 to 9hours of therapy a week, for an average of 4-6 weeks.
This program is available for substance abuse, mental health concerns,
or a combined emphasis.
Urinalysis (UAs) are available for individuals
plagued by substance abuse issues.
This program requires a combination
of individual, group, and family therapy.
Therapeutic services are tailored
schedules to meet the needs and address the most prominent issues of
each individual client and family.
Lost and Found believes working with the entire family is a priority and
that each family member contributes to the lives of the others, so family
involvement is required.
Intensive Outpatient Education (IOP-E)
The Intensive Outpatient Education program is typically 5 days a week for
5 hours a day for a total of 25 hours of therapy a week. Intensive Outpatient
Education can also be up to 8 hours a day to include a full school day.
The Intensive Outpatient Education program is split between educational
and therapy components, based upon the needs and priority issues of the client
and school requirements. Within a five hour day, the client would participate
in either 2 hours of school and 3 hours of therapy, or vice versa. Within
an 8 hour day, there will be 5-6 hours of school and 2-3 hours of therapy.
This program is available for substance abuse, mental health concerns,
or a combined emphasis.
