Anger ManagementTim/Vanessa An edu-therpaeutic group for individuals to help identify different expressions, types, and sources of Anger. Anger is a signal for life imbalance and indifference. Often anger is secondary to other emotions like hurt, loss and disrespect. It is important to figure out what these underlying feelings are if a proper solution is to take place. Gone unchecked it creates a larger problem or issue. An appropriate means to vent frustration and communicate non-violently to resolve the situation will be discussed. The physical arousal symptoms of Anger will be illustrated and mindfulness techniques will be utilized to calm the body and reduce unwanted outbursts. Learn how to identify angry thoughts and replace them with constructive, positive messages to resolve the situation.

The physical arousal symptoms of Anger will be illustrated and mindfulness techniques will be utilized to calm the body and reduce unwanted outbursts. The use of “I” messages are practiced in order to express to others in a non-offensive way what is bothering them. Negative thoughts also influence the anger response. Often, illogical and unreasonable assumptions fuel our anger. We will discuss appropriate means to vent frustration and communicate non-violently to resolve the situation. This is a solution based group .

Art TherapyJeanine/Kristie This group creates a stimulation for right brain activity; participants to begin expressing themselves in Art what they have a hard time expressing with words. This is often a safe form of expression than can develop into a strong therapeutic bond for individual talk therapy over time. Clients may also develop the use of art as a skill to manage stress, anxiety and even depression. It is a successful therapeutic tool for clients who have experienced trauma and/or loss.

Building Self-Esteem SkillsCameron The main goal of this group is to help clients foster a healthy sense of self-worth. The members will examine their strengths and weaknesses, aiming to accept themselves without judgment. The group will use several strategies taken from David Burn’s book on Self-Esteem as well as use other CBT/REBT techniques to focus on developing realistic views of self as well as an unconditional sense of self-acceptance. Each group will involve psycho-education as well as processing of each group member’s examination of self. It is essential for the group facilitator act in a non-judgmental manner, provide empathic responses, and express genuine feedback to the members in order to model these behaviors for others.

CBT SkillsCameron The main goal of this group will be to help clients see the impact that their thoughts have on their emotions and behaviors. The group will begin each session with psycho-education, reviewing the cognitive model of emotions and behavior. The members will then begin to help each other become aware of his or her own cognitive distortions that are leading him or her to behave in self-defeating and maladaptive ways. The group will focus on goal-setting, eliminating undesired and self-defeating behavior, accountability, and will use several techniques and strategies adapted from the Cognitive-Behavioral therapeutic approach. The group will be problem-focused.

DnA for AdultsEmily/Cindy Entry requirements are as follows… drink, find your keys, crawl to the car, help animate your car, stop and lie to a police officer about how much you drank, urinate in the back seat of the police car, blame it all on your tail light, complain that the judge probably is naked under his robe, spread rumors that your probation office is the spawn of Satan, deny you were driving on the wrong side of the road, enter treatment because your lawyer said it would be a good idea to follow the court’s orders, forget to submit your Affidavit of Enrollment to the DMV and blame it on your therapist, try to avoid paying every other week, cancel when it snows, rains, is too bright, too cold or even if you spilt your milk, be convinced that you don’t have a drinking problem even if this is your second DUI and your BAC was three times the legal limit, forget that cocaine is included in the DUI statute, complain to your therapist who is underpaid that the treatment world is ripping you off, finally decide to stop drinking because you were embarrassed when your mother had to drive you to a date because you couldn’t get your license back, and then blow smoke up the counselor’s butt about how much you learned and how much a cognitive behavioral map helped you learn about yourself as if you really planned on changing your behavior in the future, as if the counselor isn’t smart enough to smell the BS.

Dynamic MarriageMoose/Kristie Dynamic is a term describing elasticity and strength. Dynamic Marriage resources married couples with skills that will strengthen their relationship. We will incorporate humor, assessment, discussion, and video to enhance the marriage relationship. Our aim is to encourage hurting couples; enrich marriage relationships and foster the endearment of the Marriage Covenant. Dynamic Marriage is a 6 week group for married couples. Each couple will receive a workbook for each person that will include outlines of the material and other tools to help them to continue their growth.

Emotional Freedom TechniquesSheryl/My The Emotional Freedom Techniques group (EFT) is a method using acupressure to reduce anxiety, depression, grief, flashbacks, sleep problems, pain management and for sports enhancement. Each week the group address nutrition issues and explores the use of essential oil to mitigate common aches, pains, and general stress and anxiety with a natural approach to health and well-being. EFT group provides support, encouragement and education for general health that teaches good health skills for life.

Empowering GirlsKristie/Jeanine Empowering Girls is designed to develop a healthy female image through a safe environment from which to explore personal strengths of womanhood and examine stereotypes and other myths about the female gender. Facilitators use a multi-modality approach to educational-therapy that helps members achieve a freedom of expression and confidence.

Girl’s TraumaJeanine/Kristie This group is designed to be a place for growth and support for girls who have experienced trauma in their lives, providing a safe environment for self-expression. Art therapy, group discussion, and psycho-education will be used to help individuals develop healthy coping mechanisms for stress and anxiety commonly caused by trauma events. Members will learn techniques to break the unhealthy bond created by trauma situation.

Life SkillsEd Paul/Vanessa Life Skills Group is intended to facilitate, teach, model, and sell the concept and value of a mental world which in which the client functions well. It is predicated on the foci of life meaning and life purpose. As such, it incorporates both general and specific strategies and techniques for healthy and productive living. |

MAPVMolly/Keith This is a content heavy interactive group for male teen sex offenders. In this group members will learn the perpetration and victimization cycles, identify trancing and tracking mechanism and how to overcome them. Members will explore their specific events and analyze the cause and effect of core matter leading to the offense. Issues of reconciliation and restoration will be addressed before recovery can begin. Members are required to undergo a community response panel to gauge treatment progress. Modules and focus of group fulfill court-ordered requirements for Offense Specific treatment.

Men of CharacterCameron/Judy The main goal of this group is to foster the development of healthy male identity. A main focus is re-framing the idea that males must be aggressive, emotionless, and violent in order to maintain their masculinity. Goals include exploring the value of empathy, humility, forgivingness, acceptance of one’s emotions to decrease violent or aggressive reactivity and passivity. Several activities are used to facilitate this process, which mostly include interventions adapted from the Cognitive-Behavioral, Gestalt, and experiential/artistic approaches. |

Movement GroupPatricia Dance therapy is founded on the premise that the body and mind are an interrelated continuum, that the state of the body may affect mental and emotional well being in manifold ways. In contrast to artistic dance, which is usually concerned with the aesthetic appearance of movement, dance therapy explores the nature of all movement. Movement therapy has had success in dealing with ADD, ADHD, Depression and Sensory disorders. Through observing and altering the kinesthetic movements of a client, dance movement therapists diagnose and help solve various psychological problems. As any conscious person can move on some level, this therapy can work with any population. |

Multifamily GroupPatricia/Jeanine Multifamily Groups (PMFG) is a treatment modality designed to help individuals with maladaptive behaviors and/or dysfunctional families attain as rich and full participation in the usual life of the community as possible. The intervention focuses on informing families and support people about dysfunction, developing coping skills, solving problems, creating social supports, and developing an alliance between individuals, practitioners, and their families or other support people. Practitioners invite five to six individuals and their families to participate in the group. "Family" is defined as anyone committed to the care and support of the persons with similar dysfunctional behaviors. Consumers often ask a close friend or neighbor to be their support person in the group. Group meetings are structured to help people develop the skills needed to handle problems within their family systems. |

Parenting for Success!Moose/Jeanine Parents often feel disconnected from their teenagers. Through discussion and presentation parents will discover connecting points that will help them develop a lasting relationship with their children. The wondrous aspect of these connecting points is that they can be applied to any relationship that they have not just with their children. This group will be on a 4-6 week cycle.

Parenting Kids AloneMoose/Jeanine This group works with parents going through the adjustments of parenting their children through and following divorce, separation or death. We will define such issues as Co-parenting, Developmental Differences, Child Support, the use of the legal system, grieving the losses, self-care, and more all with the common goal of doing what is in the best interest of the children. Parenting Kids Alone will be a four week series with a two week assimilation group. |

Rebuilding (Divorce Recovery) Rebuilding would be a 10 week group for those recovering from the end of a long term relationship that follows the materials developed by Bruce Fisher “Rebuilding When Your Relationship Ends.” Each participant would be required to purchase the book at a cost of approximately 14:95 (less on line).

RelationshipsCarrie/Molly Problems, issues and disagreements welcomed here! This is a Solution-Based Group focused on using real situations to develop the skills needed to find balance in healthy relationships. A typically experiential group tailored to the needs of the clients participating in real-time. There is much to be learned through the examination of difficult situations and our participation in them. This group focuses on exploring current relationships; identifying the imbalance and cause of relational distress. The goal is to examine how and what can be different or better. Members will learn and exercise a vast array of skills required to build strong relations and maintain them.

Self Control SkillsCarrie/My This group is loosely based on Linehan’s Dialectical Behavior Therapy. It focuses on the key areas of emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness, etc. Skills are learned using typically experiential methods. This is an interactive group those who are serious about a focused life change within a short time frame.

Teen AddictionsEd Paul Teen Addictions Group is designed to provide information on the abuse and effects of alcohol and other drugs as well as the rationale for maintaining an AOD-free lifestyle. TnA also covers techniques for understanding and coping with triggers and high-risk exposures for relapse and recidivism. Finally, it suggests and teaches healthy alternatives to AOD-related behaviors. |
