Health Tip of the Month
Summer Self Care
Longer days with more sunshine give us more hours to enjoy the outdoors. It is also a time we need to manage our work schedule as well. Here are some tips for improving the work day as well as enjoying the outdoors.
- When at work, turn off distractions that will interrupt your flow—phones, instant messaging—and close your door when you need to complete a project.
- Take stretch breaks through out the day.
- Work on projects when its quiet—early or late hours when things aren’t so busy are great times to get caught up.
- Eat lunch without distractions. Multitasking interferes with the body’s ability to digest food and make use of the nutrients. Actually leave your office during lunch hour, even if it’s only to sit outside in the sun for 15-20 min.
- Use EFT (emotional freedom techniques) when things get overwhelming.
- Take time to pray about decisions before rushing into them.
- Get 20 min to an hour of sunlight on your skin each day without sun screen. The amount of time depends on your skin tones. Sunlight provides the required vitamin D we need each day to stay healthy. It’s a myth that sun is the culprit that causes major problems when the reality is that lack of sun and vitamin D cause many more problems. However, sunburn is dangerous, so work up to a good amount for your body without burning. Most sunscreens have toxins in them that contribute to poor health. Avoid those completely. You can find a totally natural sunscreen at www.mercola.com.
- Remember to find time to play and relax. A life without balance is an unhealthy life. Enjoy the flowers in the yard, plant a garden, take a bike ride, go for a swim, take a walk in the early morning hours or in the cool of the evening, picnic with friends, attend a concert in the park, run barefoot in the grass, play in the sprinkler—keep the child inside you alive!
Essential Oil of the Month
Thieves Cleaning Products
Many cleaning products are filled with toxins that enter our lungs or penetrate our skin. The Thieves oil blend contains close, lemon, cinnamon bar, eucalyptus radiate, and rosemary and kills viruses and bacteria without any toxins. All the cleaning products contain the essential oil blend. The foaming hand soap gets rid of harmful bacteria without drying the skin. The waterless hand purifier is a 1 oz bottle that can be used anywhere and meets the airline standards for carry-on. The Thieves spray is wonderful for counter tops, toilet seats, door knobs, and even works great for sore throats. When I fly I take a small sample bottle of Thieves mixed with oil and rub it under my nose every few hours to disinfect the air I breathe and keep me healthy on the trip. I spray the airplane trays with the spray mix before putting my food out. I keep the waterless hand purifier in my purse at all times as its much kinder to my hands than soaps in public restrooms. Try a sample bottle of Thieves already mixed with oil for $5.00.*
Treatment of the Month
Healing Prayer
Prayer is powerful in the healing process. Incorporating prayer into traditional psychotherapy greatly enhances the effectiveness of any modality. Praying before eating moves us into a place of thankfulness and focus on our food and improves the digestive process as well as increasing the nutrient value of the food to our bodies. Our bodies are “fearfully and wonderfully made”. God has created our minds and bodies to have many healing properties when we treat them correctly by giving ourselves good nutrition, daily exercise and a focus on positive thoughts. Praying and asking for God’s healing gives us the opportunity to experience God at work in our lives
