The 3rd Annual 9/11 Remembrance Run – America Goes the Distance - is scheduled for Saturday, September 11th, at Memorial Park, 8000 W. 59th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado. This year we will again have a timed 10 and 20 mile marathon training course (endorsed by the Denver Marathon), and the 5K family friendly run/walk course. Post-race there will be plenty of food, music, and patriotism – including card making and signing for care packages sent to deployed troops. Sponsors include KYGO and Homefront Heroes, with race management by The AIR Foundation.
The 9/11 Remembrance Run raises funds to provide services for under and uninsured military, veterans and their families through Operation Restoration at Lost and Found Inc. Operation Restoration provides outpatient services for military members (active duty, reservists, National Guard) and their families, and veterans and their families. Operation Restoration also networks on behalf of these individuals and families when they have other challenging issues, including but not limited to financial crises. Since Operation Restoration was founded in fall, 2007 we’ve provided retreats for families of deployed or recently returned troops through a collaboration with other military support groups along the Front Range. Operation Restoration therapists offer expertise in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, chemical dependency, family dysfunction and marital discord, issues related to Traumatic Brain Injury and the challenges families face when a loved one is deployed or has returned to civilian life from a combat setting.
